Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and we decided to participate in the national day of community service. When we looked for organized events at www.usaservice.org we didn't find any event in or near Laie. So we organized our own. With very little publicity, other than the website and a colleague's word of mouth to the BYUH Hawaiian Gospel Forum, we had forty people come to a Laie Temple Beach Clean-up project today at 10:00 a.m. We hauled out bags of trash, rotting wood and even a dozen golf balls from the beach. Here are some pictures.
We met at the Temple Beach Contemplation Garden.
The surf was up. Friends, neighbors, BYUH students and children worked and worked.
In an only an hour, Temple Beach shined. Hooray for friends. Next year, we'll do it again. Aloha.
Hi Beth, this is Anne Beija's mom. Meant to post after the super cute Rudolph number from Oli. A great service that we would like to be part of next time. Aloha! The Bowens
I loved your service project! I'm going to follow your example next year.
