Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

We each highlight three things we learned in 2008.

Lamont-2 years

1. Learned that life needs a nap.

2. Learned how to hold his own with his four older sisters.

3. Learned how to "slam dunk."

Olivia-5 years

1. Learned to sing "Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer."

2. Learned how to draw butterflies.

3. Learned the joys of singing in our plumeria tree.

Isabel-8 years

1. Learned the multiplication tables.
2. Learned to ride a two wheeler bike
3. Learned to sew a little bit. Here is her string art Christmas Tree.

Grace-11 years

1. Learned about having lots of homework.

2. Learned how to dance like Cook Islanders.
3. Learned about having glasses.

Josie-14 years

1. Learned how to spell almost 1,000 words, but she forgot them all once she got in front of the microphone at the district spelling bee.

2. Learned to smile and shaka at Japanese tourists, while working at the Polynesian Cultural Center as a luau waitress for the summer.

3. Learned the ins and outs of policy debate.

Beth

1. Learned how to kayak and talk at the same time on the lazy Shanandoah River with my Mom and all seven of my sisters.

2. Learned how
to cut a boy's hair.
3. Learned once again that I love to live in Laie. Here is the Laie Cemetery on Memorial Day, full of flowers and people and aloha.

Jim

  1. Learned about cake-box cookies - one box of cake mix, two eggs and half a cup of oil. Easy.
  2. Learned that reaching mid-40s is still young.
  3. Still learning how to comb hair into a pony tail. Beth visited her sisters on the mainland for a week and Isabel's and Olivia's hair needed to be done. The hair band needs to be really tight.
