Renew America Together

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and we decided to participate in the national day of community service. When we looked for organized events at www.usaservice.org we didn't find any event in or near Laie. So we organized our own. With very little publicity, other than the website and a colleague's word of mouth to the BYUH Hawaiian Gospel Forum, we had forty people come to a Laie Temple Beach Clean-up project today at 10:00 a.m. We hauled out bags of trash, rotting wood and even a dozen golf balls from the beach. Here are some pictures.

We met at the Temple Beach Contemplation Garden.

The surf was up.

Friends, neighbors, BYUH students and children worked and worked.

In an only an hour, Temple Beach shined. Hooray for friends.

Next year, we'll do it again. Aloha.

For MTE from JBT

It's my sister Marie's birthday soon. I'm sure this song, courtesy of You Tube and the Royal Guardsmen has many good memories.

And all ten siblings surely remember this classic:

Happy New Year

Best wishes in 2009. Here are a few photos of our sedate celebrations.

Beth I woke up early to watch the sunrise at Laie Point.

Here it is 7:15 a.m. and the sun has just risen behind the happy couple.

Josie stayed up until midnight, watching TV and watching the fireworks from our balcony.

David and Yaya visited, providing loads of cousin fun for Oli and Mont.

We had many delicious meals with them.

And finally we celebrated in fine fashion a most important birthday.
Notice the fine gugelhupf.
